Dr Oz Green Drink

(30 Days of Juicing Day #11 - Dr. Oz's Green Drink)

Since I had such great success with Blake Lively's Juice the other day, I decided to rev up my juicer (affiliate link) and give another "celebrity juice" a try. This time it was Dr. Oz's Green Drink Juice, which I found on JuiceRecipes.com.

According to the site, Dr. Oz drinks this every morning, and so does Oprah. How's that for a powerful celebrity endorsement?

Can you lose weight by juicing?

It depends. If you do a "juice diet" or "juice fast" which limits solid food and significantly restricts calories, you may experience weight loss, at least in the short term. The fewer calories you take in while juicing the more rapidly you'll lose weight.

But weight loss isn't necessarily the same as fat loss. It's usually water loss. And you will likely gain the weight back as soon as you go back to your normal eating pattern.

Even if you don't lose weight the health benefits of a juice cleanse include consumption of important nutrients, vitamins and minerals, always a good thing.

Which juice is best for weight loss?

If you're considering investing in a juicer (affiliate link) and trying out a juice cleanse or some juicing recipes for weight loss, these five fresh juices are worth considering:

  • Grapefruit juice which may keep hunger at bay and speed up metabolism.
  • Kale juice because it's packed with B-complex vitamins and minerals, which actually help you derive energy from other nutrients.
  • Celery juice which is actually a great post-workout choice because it's a good source of natural organic sodium, which replaces the electrolytes you lose when you work up a sweat.
  • Cucumber juice which is refreshing and a natural diuretic.
  • Watermelon juice because it has been found to help reduce sore post workout muscles.

Which juice will reduce belly fat?

Juicing can be a good thing, but if your goal is to lose your belly fat, you may want to stick with fresh juices that are lower in sugar. That means creating fresh juice recipes that are heavy on the vegetables and light on the fruit.

Good low-sugar vegetables for juicing include cucumbers, spinach, celery and kale. Also, try to limit the amount you drink to one 8-ounce glass a day.

Or you can make a veggie-focused smoothie to get the benefits of both the juice and the fiber.

Juicing for Weight Loss with Dr. Oz's Green Drink

I guess my taste buds are adjusting because I liked this one. I thought it was well balanced. Not too sweet and Not "too green" if you know what I mean. Score another one for the celebrities.

If you are new to juicing, you may find this too "swampy" "earthy" tasting. If you do, try adding an extra apple or two to sweeten it up. Or try something a little more gentle, like this Beginner's Juice.

Instead of peeling the lemon and lime and running it through the juicer (affiliate link), I just squeezed it in at the end.

How Many Calories & Weight Watchers Points in this Green Juice?

According to my calculations this has about 110 calories and:

6 *SmartPoints (Green plan)
6 *SmartPoints (Blue plan)
6 *SmartPoints (Purple plan)
3 *PointsPlus (Old plan)

Enjoy!
